At Funeral Planning Solutions, we’re committed to making our customers’ lives easier. That’s why, when designing our website, we made sure it’s simple and easy to access for all of our customers.
Our accessibility standards
We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines set out how to make web content more accessible to internet users, especially those with disabilities. The majority of web pages on this site conform to a level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (as of 02/07/2014).
Additional code – known as WAI-ARIA landmark roles – has been used in the build of this website. Put simply, this code helps to increase the accessibility of web pages by describing the role of dynamic web page elements, such as forms and expandable menus, in greater detail. This extra information is particularly useful for describing web page content to visitors using screen readers or other assistive technology.
Our approach to design
To ensure we offer people the best experience when viewing our website, we created a website that is adaptable to all types of technology. So whether you’re sat at your desktop computer, browsing on your tablet, or out and about using your mobile phone, the layout will adapt to any device.
To further support assistive technology – such as screen reading equipment – we have used Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). This technique separates styling information from content – allowing the text to be more easily read.
Relative font sizes have been used wherever possible, which enables users to change the text size in their web browser.
Navigation has been kept simple and consistent throughout the site – with the help of consumer test groups to provide feedback on website usability.
Our approach to links
All links on this website also contain additional information, which describes the link in greater detail. This can be viewed by hovering a mouse‚ or other pointing device over the link text.
Our approach to images
Where there are images on a webpage, alternative or “alt text” has been used to describe the image and its purpose, which can be read by screen readers.
Our approach to pop-up windows
The use of pop-up windows on this site has been kept to a minimum. If a link opens a new browser window then this is explained in the title of the link.
Our approach to documents
The documents which are available to download on this website are Portable Document Format or PDF. If a link opens a PDF on this website, then this is explained in the title of the link. Please be aware that additional software may be required to allow screen reading tools to access PDFs.
If you do not have access to Adobe Reader, you can download the software by clicking the following link.
Please note that the Adobe website is part of Funeral Planning Service Ltd and we cannot be liable for Adobe contents.
