The information we collect from you

Funeral Planning Service Ltd and www.funeralplanningservices.co.uk both trade under the brand name Funeral Planning Solutions. We collect the following personal and sensitive information:

Personal information

We collect personal information about you when you request a quote for any of our products or services. This includes your name, address, gender, date of birth, and telephone number. Should you decide to purchase one of our products we will need to collect additional personal information, such as your bank account details. We may also request additional information about you from a third party such as credit agencies, customer research companies, or customer segmentation and data cleansing agencies.  Your data is kept for a period of 60 days from receipt unless you make a purchase or request specifically to do so.

Sensitive personal information

Depending on the product and service you apply for, some of the information we may ask you to provide could be regarded as sensitive personal information. For example, we may need to ask you about your health, medical history, or other specific personal data. We’ll only ask you for this sensitive personal information if it is necessary to assist us in completing your paperwork or in order to recommend a specific product or service.

How will we use the information about you?

We will hold the information for a period of 60 days unless you make a purchase or request us to keep it.  We use your personal information:

  • To set up and administer your Funeral Plan, Trust or Will
  • To give you a quotation and answer any questions you may have
  • To keep your personal information accurate and up to date
  • For business analysis – to review the services we offer you
  • For market research – to improve and develop our products and services
  • To manage complaints

We will record your personal information on our policy administration system and marketing database (please see the paragraph below on our use of your data for marketing purposes), and we may keep it on paper files where necessary.

To assist us in the processing of your personal information, we may use other trusted companies outside our own group. We will ensure that all of these other companies protect your personal information by applying the same standards of security as we do.

Banking data

In order to process some payments through the banking payments system, the bank may require transferring your personal information to countries that do not provide the same level of protection for personal information as the UK. This may be provided to overseas authorities in order to comply with applicable legal obligations and to investigate and prevent crime and terrorism.

How we share your information

We would only ever share your information with a third party on your instruction in order to gather quotations.  Other data sharing would only be in the form of external data cleansing companies who we ensure operate a strict secure data destruction service.

We would never share your information with any companies outside the Funeral Planning Service Ltd’s group.

If you have purchased a product or service from a product provider that we work with, we will provide them with information about that purchase.

Where we are introducing you to another product provider and you have chosen to buy their products or services, we will provide your personal information to them for administration purposes. They will provide you with their privacy policy if you request it.

If you have been introduced to SunLife by another company, we may provide them with your personal information if they request it. This may include changes to your personal information e.g. change of address.

We will not share any health or medical information (sensitive personal information) about you and we will not sell your personal information to another company.

Marketing communications

From time to time, we’d like to send you information about other products and services you might be interested in. This information would come specifically from Funeral Planning Service Ltd and never from a third party or on behalf of a third party company.  We may also introduce you to other products and services from other companies that we work with, but we will never sell your personal information to another company.

We may do this by post, phone, SMS (text message), or email.

Otherwise, we will assume you are happy to be contacted in this way for the time being.

Accessing and correcting your information
